Dream Yoga

The effort to awaken the consciousness in the dream state is called Dream Yoga. This term is most known from the tradition of Tilopa, Naropa, Marpa, and Milarepa, although the tradition of Niguma also includes Dream Yoga. Yoga comes from the Sanskrit word "yug," which means to "reunite" or "yoke together." This is the same as the root of our word religion, the Latin word "religare,"which means "to bind together." What is sought in both cases is the union of our consciousness with its source, but this can only happen when our consciousness is awakened and purified of all that is unclean.
The yogic tradition of Tilopa has been maintained in Tibetan Buddhism for hundreds of years. It is a series of teachings of which dream yoga is a vital part. It has been practiced and taught by all the Dalai Lamas, and such great initiates as Tsongkhapa and Milarepa. However, the Tibetans did not invent it. This yoga arrived in Tibet from India, and has also been practiced in mystical traditions around the world, such as among the Chinese, Aztecs, Mayans, and Egyptians.
The basic goal of Dream Yoga is to harness the power of the dream state and use it to awaken the consciousness.
The first step in dream yoga is to learn to retain conscious presence during dreams. - Jey Sherab Gyatso

8: Astral Voyages
The soul is enshrouded in a fluid body called the astral body. The astral body is similar to the physical body. Within the astral body is the soul with its mind, with its will, with its conscience, with its feelings. Thus the astral body is marvelous; this is the soul's body. When the flesh and bone body is asleep, the soul leaves the flesh and bone body and wanders everywhere. The soul voyages in its astral body. When King Nebuchadnezzar lay sleeping in his bed, he thought about what he would be in the future; then he fell asleep. The King's soul then left the flesh and bone body, traveled in the astral plane, and saw a statue whose head was of gold; its breast and arms were of silver; its legs were of iron and its feet were partly iron and partly baked clay. The King ordered all wise men, astrologers, and Chaldean...
Astral Projection
1. What is an Astral Projection? Samael Aun Weor: Do you really not know what an Astral Projection is? Young lady, I understand very well that your question is sincere. Listen: Astral Projection is an extremely simple and easy natural phenomenon like eating and drinking, etc. It is clear that when the physical body becomes slumbered, the soul then leaves it and travels everywhere. When returning, when re-entering into its body again, the soul then often remembers the places where it was, the people with whom it spoke, etc.; usually people describe this phenomenon as dreams, yet indeed this is an astral projection. 2. Can this phenomenon be performed only in dreams or can it also be done by will? Samael Aun Weor: In either case, the slumber state is necessary in order for one to be able to astral project, even by will. 3. Is Astral Projection dangerous? Samael Aun...
Dream Yoga Course Introduction
I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago, (whether in the body, I cannot tell; or whether out of the body, I cannot tell: God knoweth;) such an one caught up to the third heaven... - St. Paul, 2 Corinthians 12:2 This is a free online course providing complete practical guidance regarding the ancient universal knowledge of awakening in the Internal Worlds, otherwise known as lucid dreaming, astral projection, astral travel, or out-of-body experiences (OBEs). This course is founded upon the tradition established by Samael Aun Weor and is as such Gnostic: Gnosis is a Greek word which refers to knowledge that one acquires through one's own experience, as opposed to knowledge we have heard or been told. "Gnosis" is the name of a timeless and universal teaching that has been present in many times and many places around the world, appearing with different names and faces, but always teaching the exact science to awaken the consciousness and walk on the Path...
Dream Yoga: One
The word Yoga comes from the Sanskrit word yug, which means "union." So the ancient and universal knowledge of Dream Yoga teaches us how to unite our consciousness with God through dreams, by awakening our consciousness through the study of our dreams. The first step in Dream Yoga is to learn how to be here and now, to learn how to live the philosophy of momentariness, because it is not possible to study our dreams if our consciousness is asleep. Our consciousness has to be attentive in order to study our dreams. To be awake is to be attentive from moment to moment; attentive of oneself. "Oneself" is not the physical body. Oneself is within the physical body. However, we have to observe our physical body. Within the physical body we have different centers through which what we call a "dream" is always acting. Our consciousness is like the light of a flashlight; we must learn how to direct the light inwardly in order to learn about our dreams. What is a dream? A...
Dream Yoga: Two
Firstly, let us remember that the Path of Self Realization is the path for our consciousness to become united to God. Do not forget that you are here seated on this chair and in this room before your computer. We need to exercise our consciousness. It is not good to place the consciousness outside of our breathing-space because we need to be awake. We need to be here and now. Remember your true Self with your consciousness that vibrates in the pineal gland in the middle of your brain, the seat of the Atom of the Holy Spirit, the seat of our soul. So we need to be here and now, inside of our physical body, paying attention to every detail of this lecture to understand and comprehend with the consciousness. Do not let your mind drive you outside of your breathing-space. Remember that you are here and now and use your imagination in order to comprehend. Do the will of your God; he is the only Law. We have to learn how to do the will of God. In order...
Dreams and Visions
Gnostic students must learn to differentiate between dreams and visions. To dream is one thing and to have visions is another. A truly "awakened" Gnostic cannot dream. Only those who have the consciousness asleep live dreaming. The worst type of dreamer is the sexual dreamer. Those who live dreaming of carnal passions stupidly waste their creative energy in the satisfaction of their fantastic pleasures. Ordinarily, these people do not progress in their business. They fail in every sense. They end up in misery. When we look at a pornographic image, it strikes the senses and then passes to the mind. The psychological "I" intervenes in these affairs by stealing the erotic image in order to reproduce it in the mental plane. Thus, in the world of the mind, that image is transformed into a living effigy. During sleep the dreamer fornicates with that living effigy which, like an erotic demon, tempts the dreamer for the satisfaction of the lust. The outcome is wet dreams with all their...
Imagination and Fantasy
It is necessary to make a distinction between voluntarily directed imagination and mechanical imagination. Unquestionably, directed imagination is conscious imagination; for the wise, to imagine is to see. Conscious imagination is the clear means through which the firmament is reflected, the mysteries of life and death, and of the Being. Mechanical imagination is different: it is formed by the debris of the memory; it is fantasy. It is worthwhile to investigate it profoundly. Obviously, people with their fantasy, with their mechanical imagination, do not see themselves such as they are, but according to their forms of fantasy. There exist many forms of fantasy. Unquestionably, one of them consists precisely in not seeing oneself as one really is. There are very few who have the courage to see themselves such as they are, and with the crudest realism. I am absolutely sure that those here present have never seen themselves such as they are: mechanical imagination makes...
Key of Sol
Unquestionably, the most important thing in life is the realization of the inner Being. Once, I interrogated my Divine Mother Kundalini, as follows: “How is it that the path that leads to the resurrection is extremely long?” She answered me, “It is not that the path is too long; rather, the work with the philosophical stone is very hard: it must be worked, chiseled. It is necessary to give the brute stone a perfectly cubic shape.” Our motto is Thelema, meaning “willpower.” We must begin by awakening the consciousness. Obviously, all human beings are asleep, and in order to see the path it is necessary to be awakened; thus, what is essential is to awaken here and now. Unfortunately, people sleep; it seems incredible, but this is how it is. We wander in the streets with the consciousness asleep; we are in our house, in our job, in the body shop, in the office, etc., with the consciousness profoundly asleep. We drive our car and we go to the factory with the consciousness...
Useless Dreams
Let us now talk about something very important: I want to emphatically address the subject-matter related with dreams. The hour in which we must delve deeply within this topic has arrived. I acknowledge that the most important thing is to stop dreaming, since indeed, dreams are nothing other than mere projections of the mind and are, therefore, illusions; they are worthless. It is precisely the ego who projects dreams, and obviously, those dreams are useless. We need to transform the subconsciousness into consciousness. We need to radically eliminate not only dreams, but moreover, we must also eliminate the very possibility of dreaming, and this is difficult, since it is unquestionable that such a possibility will always exist so long as subjective elements continue to exist within our psyche. We need a mind that does not project; we need to exhaust the process of thinking. The projector-mind projects dreams, and these are vain and illusory. When I talk about the mind as...
